[SWToR]Logs Real Time Combat Log Parser Setup Guide
Once you have the SWToR Combat Log Uploader downloaded and installed, as described in the "Installation Guide" it is neccessary to perform some setup and configuration to ensure that your combat log data can be collected, parsed, analysed and stored on our central servers successfuly.
There are 2 categories of configuration that need to be done :
- Confiuration of Star Wars : The Old Replublic game preferences and settings
- Configuration of [SWToR]Logs Combat Uploader
The steps neccessary to accomplish this are described in the folowing steps.
If you have any difficulties with the in-game or Combat Uploader setup and configuration please vist the forums for further assistance
Additionaly, if you wish to use the in-game overlay combat meters provided by [SWToR]Logs software then the game must be running in one of the 2 available windows graphics modes.
These can be selected from the in game preferences and selecting the sub-category Graphics. The option Window Mode needs to be set to either "Fullscreen (Windowed)"" or "Windowed" for the overlay meters to display on top of the gaming environment.
This option can be left at your normal setting if you plan to only use the [SWToR]Logs software to upload your logs for later analysis, or plan to display the the in-game meters on a secondary monitor.
Once you have configured Star Wars : The Old Repbulic to enable Combat Logging the game will begin to write your in-game actions to a simple text data located on your hard drive under your "Documents" folder.
This is the file that the [SWToR]Logs Combat Log Uploader will need to read in-order to create your in-game combat meters and store your combat data on the central servers.
To do this the software needs to be configured to know a few things about your character and where the game is storing the combat log files. The [SWToR]Logs setup options can be accessed by clicking the [SWToR]Logs logo ( ) in the top right of the main control window, this will display a short menu where you can select "Options" ( ) to open the options window.
The main options for [SWToR]Logs are broken into 3 categories. As you move between setup options the "Help" panel on the right will give a brief description of that settings meaning. The setup options and their uses are :
- Live Server
- Live Host
This is the address of the [SWToR]Logs central Web Sockets server. In general this option should be left blank and it will be automaticaly populated with a suitable host address for our servers (test.swtorlogs.eu or live.swtorlogs.eu). If you ever wish to reset the value for this setting simply delete the contents of the field and click "Save", the software will then automaticaly reset the value to a correct value.
- User
- Live User
This is a required field and is used by the [SWToR]Logs system to group your combat log data together for parsing, analysis and storage on our servers, and to provide you a search item to locate combat log data on the website. If you optionaly registered on the web site then it is recommended that this is the "Nick Name" or "Main Character" you chose to register with (it is NOT recomended to use your logon name).
This name is the name that is display on the [SWToR]Logs website as the owner of your combat data
- Password
This is an entirely optional field and can be left blank, if you have NOT registered with the [SWToR]Logs website then this field MUST be left blank or the Combat Log Uploader will fail to connect to our central servers and will not analyse any combat data.
If you do specify this field then it must be the same password as you used when registering with [SWToR]Logs website and you "Live User" MUST match either your registered "Nick Name" or you registered "Main Character". If any of these fields do not match the Combat Log Uploader will fail to authenticate with our central servers and will not analyse any combat data.
Using this password field and the "Live User" field to link your combat data to a registred account allows for access to more advanced data analysis and grouping features via the web site (e.g. specifiying character classes, talent specs etc for characters discovered in your combat log data).
- Language
This is an optional field, but if specified should match the language of your game software. Setting this enables the [SWToR]Logs analyser to display language specific textual descriptions for your analysed data when viewed via the web site instead of falling back to the default 'en' setting.
- SWToR Server
This is an optional field and is used to help group and categorise your data for easier searching anf viewing on the web site. This should match your prefered main playing server for SWToR, and if you registered with [SWToR]Logs it should match the server you registered there.
- SWToR Guild
This is an optional field and is used to help group and categorise your data for easier searching anf viewing on the web site. This should match your prefered main SWToR guild affiliation, and if you registered with [SWToR]Logs it should match the guild name you registered there.
- Combat Logs
- Log Folder
This is the folder that the Combat Logs (previously enabled) will be written to by the swtor game. If left blank the [SWToR]Logs software will attempt to set his based on your computer environment. Please check this is the correct folder as is acctualy where the game is storing the combat log files.
Failure to set this correctly will prevent the combat log uploader from finding anf reading your combat files and will hence be unable to display any combat information.
There are a few "Advanced Options" available fo the [SWToR]Logs Combat Log Uploader to give you some greater control over the behaviour and silent running/automation of the software. These options are accesed from the options window by selecting the "Advanced" tab. The available advanced options are :
- Auto Catchup
By default the [SWToR]Log software will only start reading log files when the software is started, and will only read the current log file and current combat data. If however you wish to keep a complete picture of all your activity selecting this option will force the combat log uploader to transmit all combat data to our central servers and "catch up" on old data that was created by the game while the uploader was not running. If you have this option enabled and leave the unloader stopped for long periods og game play time it could take a minute or two for the uploader to read old combat log data and transmit it to the servers, during this "catch up" period your live meters will reflect actions taken at the time the combat data was written.
It is recommended that if you have this option enabled that you run the Combat Log Uploader at all times you are playing swtor, or that you add the uploader to your startup group and have it running all the time but minimized to the system tray gor un-obtrusive use
- Auto Tidy Log Files
If this option is enabled, and a number of days selected in "Older Than" the combat log parser will automaticaly delete any old combat log data files that are older that the specified nuymber of days. This releases you from the task of tidying the game produced data files your self and will keep the disk usage of the combat files to a managable level. Again if this option is enabled it is recommended that you add the uploader to your startup group and have it running all the time but minimized to the system tray gor un-obtrusive use
- Minimize to System Tray
When selected "Minimizing" the software will caus ethe main control window to minimize but remove the task button from your windows task bar, instead placing a small [SWTOR]Logs logo icon in your system tray (near where the clock is usualy displayed). To re-show the control panel doouble click the logo icon
